Frances Marrington graduated from QUT with a B.A. (Theatre Studies) in 2002, and then moved to Melbourne to continue her training in the B.D.A. (Acting) course at VCA (2003). She has had constant work in Melbourne, Brisbane, and abroad as an actor, model and voice-over artist. Her theatre credits include: playing a peasant in Swan Lake (The Queensland Ballet, 2008); performing butoh for Zen Zen Zo's Zeitgeist, Dairakudakan's The Golden Show, and Kokutoin's Not Clear, Not Clear (2008); Shires / Porter in The Ship That Never Was (Round Earth Theatre 2006); Dora Maar in Picasso's Women (Butterfly Club 2006); Ophelia in Hamlet (Eagle's Nest Theatre, Montsalvat 2006); Puppeteer in Sad Bird Boy and Other Dreams of the City (theatre in decay, International Puppet Carnival 2006); Leanne in Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (Defector Arts, Gasworks 2006); Vicki in Eight Days (theatre in decay, Adelaide Fringe 2006); Leanne in Truth FM (Short and Sweet, Arts Centre 2005); Horatio in Hamlet (Dancing with Strangers, Gasworks 2005); Sandy in Tyranny (The Builders' Project, La Mama 2005); Dora in Picasso's Women (Chapel off Chapel 2005); Meredith in The Last Word (Act-o-Matic 3000, Melbourne Fringe 2004); Clytemnestra in The Eumenides (VCA, 2003); Shen Te in The Good Woman of Setzuan (QUT 2002); Linda in Play it Again Sam (Brisbane Arts Theatre 2002); Salerio in The Merchant of Venice (Brisbane Arts Theatre 2001); and Nahdezda in Chekov's The Duel (QUT 2000). Her film credits include playing Tanya (supporting lead) in the independent feature Purge (ACOPA 2006); Mel in the feature A Nocturne (Innersense Productions 2006); a Noblewoman in short film Rusalka (Wolfsbane Films 2006); Mandy in the short film The Editor (Brett Shears 2006); Sarah in short The Change Room (VCA 2006); Martha Herman in short My 61 Green Peas (VCA 2006); Tracey (lead) in the TV Pilot Dirty Diner (Rupesh Appanah 2005); Sophie in the short Choice Moments (Carla Varalla 2005); Tess (lead) in the feature Watch Me (Scopofile Productions, 2004); and Sarah (lead) in the short The Remote (Visionaire 2004). She has also worked professionally as a host and character actor for Qismat (murder mystery parties); as Dr Tancredi, a character in the Prison Break Live! experience in Luna Park; a character actor for Santa's Kingdom (2004); and played a Geisha in Ambition (an interactive murder mystery project, 2004). She has been part of a number of actor co-ops, resulting in shows including: Flanuese 1 (inspired by Lady Chatterly's Lover, 2004); The Steering Committee (a butoh inspired performance for La Bamba at La Boite, 2002); and Shakespeare's Ladies (QUT 2001). She directed the show Wolf Lullaby (Brisbane Arts Theatre 2001) and co-directed Antigone (QUT 2002); and most recently facilitated a group-devised work, Rapunzel, for Zen Zen Zo's Masterclass intensive (2006). She continues to train as an actor and animateur; recent courses undertaken include Zen Zen Zo's Internship course and Advanced Training (2008); Queensland Shakespeare Company's Linklater and Speaking Shakespeare courses (2008); SITI Company's Summer Intensive (2007); Su-En Butoh Company's Winter Intensive (2007); SAFDi's Basic Level Stage Combat certificate; Zen Zen Zo's Winter Stomp (2007) and Stomping Ground physical theatre intensive (2006); butoh with Yumi Umimare (2006); Acting for Camera at The Film Space (2005); and Contact Impro and Organics with Liminal Theatre (2004). Her other skills include yoga; singing; tap dance (VCA, 2004); and fire-twirling (Underbelly, 2004). In 2008 she returned to Brisbane after 6 months of over-seas study and travel to complete the Zen Zen Zo Internship. She currently works for the company as a Senior Teacher, performer, and Education Manager.
