Full Bio

Frances Marrington is a Melbourne and Brisbane-based actor, currently working and studying with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre (Brisbane). She has worked in independent theatre and film around Australia; and also works as a photographic model; voice-over artist; party host; MC; and roving character. Highlights in her career to date include: 8 months on the longest-running show in Australia, The Ship That Never Was (2006/07), independently producing and performing Picasso's Women at the Butterfly Club (2006); producing and acting in Eagle's Nest Theatre's double-bill of Hamlet and Oedipus (2006); scaring punters silly in Prison Break Live at Luna Park Melbourne (2006); puppeteering for Sad Bird Boy and Other Dreams of the City (International Puppet Carnival 2006); directing Rapunzel, a group-devised work, with Zen Zen Zo (2006); performing in Eight Days for theatre in decay at the Adelaide Fringe 2006; and hosting the interactive murder mystery game The Auction (Qismat 2005-2006). Her first feature film, Watch Me, in which she plays the lead character of Tess, is also currently doing the festival circuits. Frances trained at QUT in Brisbane, and in the BDA at VCA in Melbourne. In 2007 she travelled the world to study with the SITI company in New York and the Su-En Butoh Company in Sweden. In 2008, while working with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, she will be based largely in Brisbane; with a small hiatus in Japan in August, to study with Japanese Butoh companies Dairakudakan and Semi-Maru. She will perform the butoh show Zeitgeist with Zen Zen Zo in July.
